I’m stoked to share with you the incredible rollercoaster of a year I’ve had in the running scene. I’ve been running for about 4 years, and this year it was my goal to tackle some smaller races, focus on speed, and as a topping of the year to run the authentic marathon in Greece. So, buckle up as I take you through 16 races, ranging from 8 to 15 km, and spill the beans on how Palatinose™ played a crucial role in helping me conquer my goals.
A variety of races.
What a ride it’s been! From the lively village runs, with their fair share of atmosphere and excitement, to the challenging terrains of forests and fields, each race brought its unique flavour. Adapting to different environments and race formats turned out to be my forte, setting the stage for some unforgettable moments.
And results followed.
Now, let’s talk victories! I clinched the top spot in six races, secured second place twice, and bagged third place four times. It’s been a wild journey, but it’s clear that hard work, strategic planning, and the sustained energy from Palatinose™ have been the key ingredients to my success on the track. Not only did this slow-release carbohydrate help me during my races, but also in between. It supported my body to stay fit without feeling weak or getting sick of all the efforts.

In general, I keep my nutrition healthy to fuel my body in the most balanced way. Before races, I focus on eating white pasta or rice, I drink loads of water, and alcohol is a no-go. On top of this, I use my not-so-secret weapon: Palatinose™. This has been a game-changer for me, providing a balanced and optimised fuel throughout each race. It helps me with the endurance I need to stay on top of my game.
Beyond the track: Embracing outdoor adventures.
My love for an active lifestyle goes beyond running. I’ve trekked through the Bulgarian mountains covered in snow, hit the slopes for some skiing action, and explored the stunning landscapes of the Serbian, Pyrenees, and Romanian mountains. These adventures not only keep things interesting but also contribute to my all-around fitness.
The role of skiing in my training.
Believe it or not, skiing has become more than just a winter pastime for me. It’s a dynamic cross-training experience that complements my running routine, offering full-body engagement and fantastic cardiovascular benefits. The combination of running and skiing has not only upped my fitness game but has also given me an edge on various terrains. Furthermore, when there was one day when we could not ski due to too many clouds, I decided to run the mountain uphill instead of taking the ski elevator. Clearly, you can see that I love an endurance challenge whenever possible.
The topping of the running year: The authentic marathon.
Picture this: historic routes, demanding altitudes with 400 meters of incline – a true test of endurance. An iconic journey from the historic city of Marathon to Athens. What made this adventure even more unforgettable was the privilege of training and running alongside my amazing brother, turning his first marathon into a shared triumph. This was definitely a fantastic highlight of my running year.
Looking back.
As I reflect on this incredible year of triumphs, I can’t help but be proud of myself. But also grateful to everyone supporting me, going on runs with me and cheering for me during competitions. Whether I’m conquering running races or embarking on outdoor adventures, this year’s journey is a testament to the power of a well-rounded approach to fitness and the impact of smart nutritional choices.
