BENEO-Institute: Advancing Global Scientific Knowledge on Prebiotics

BENEO Institute Header

As with all teams the BENEO-Institute Nutrition Team convenes regularly to exchange and align. However, some members are often traveling to present BENEO-Institute’s global prebiotics research at scientific congresses or trade shows. For those at home it can sometimes feel like a black box. Therefore, I’m sharing insights into our key scientific events, where we present findings and connect with customers.

The BENEO-Institute’s global initiatives highlight its commitment to advancing science and fostering collaboration for positive changes in nutrition and health

At key events across Latin America, the U.S., Asia, and Europe, BENEO shares valuable insights on prebiotics’ role in well-being and health. As the BENEO-Institute continues to build on this momentum, we remain committed to developing innovative solutions that contribute to healthier food and beverage options globally. Prebiotic science is still advancing. Therefore, the BENEO-Institute will keep educating health professionals, customers, and consumers to help them make informed choices. These events are more than opportunities to share information. They are strategic initiatives aimed at engaging directly with our customers and nutrition professionals. In this way, they receive the latest scientific developments and the BENEO Institute’s global prebiotics research directly in their regions.

Importantly, this is a two-way exchange. Our engagement with healthcare professionals and customers provides us with valuable knowledge of their evolving needs and requirements. This collaborative approach deepens the understanding of our innovative solutions and their benefits. Ultimately, it supports the development of healthier foods and beverages. And it emphasises our dedication to improving global health through scientifically backed nutrition.

Regional events are impactful and engaging experiences for participants

Our global events allow the BENEO-Institute to share research and collaborate with experts, researchers, and health professionals. The local nature of these events ensures that the knowledge provided is directly relevant and accessible to people in the respective regions. It encourages closer collaboration with customers, scientists and healthcare professionals alike. The result is an impactful and engaging experience for all participants.

Latin America: Pioneering Scientific Communication & Customer Relationships

In June 2024, the BENEO-Institute made a significant impact in Latin America by hosting its first prestigious Scientific Communication & Customer Relationship Event in Brazil. This event, themed “BENEO-Prebiotics-Health Connection,” was a milestone for BENEO as it introduced our scientific initiatives to a new and enthusiastic audience. Attendees included representatives from major global and local food companies, opinion leaders and healthcare professionals. The event was distinguished by its focus on providing high-quality, science-based knowledge on the benefits of prebiotics and the role of a healthy gut microbiome throughout different life stages. The positive feedback from participants underscored the event’s success. Also, it highlighted the value of being physically present and connected with our audience in the region.

United States: Exploring the Gut-Brain Axis at the Today’s Dietitian Spring Symposium 2024

In the United States, BENEO-Institute’s participation in the Today’s Dietitian Spring Symposium in Salt Lake City this May provided an invaluable opportunity to explore the crucial connection between gut health and mental well-being. The presentation by our invited speaker, Dr. Bob Rastall, successfully showcased the impact of prebiotics on mood. His lecture on the gut-brain axis and the benefits of chicory root prebiotics was particularly significant, as it was delivered during Mental Health Awareness Month. The research presented reinforced BENEO’s role in educating healthcare professionals on how the benefits of prebiotics go much further than digestive health. This symposium underscored their importance in emotional well-being, a message that resonated strongly with the audience.

The recording of Dr. Rastall’s presentation has just become available online.

Asia Pacific: Addressing the Dual Burden of Nutrition in Malaysia

At the 39th Scientific Conference of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM), the BENEO-Institute played a pivotal role in addressing Malaysia’s dual burden of nutrition – both stunting and obesity. The conference provided a platform for BENEO to discuss the critical role of the gut microbiota and prebiotics in health. Our presentation highlighted the benefits of the chicory root fibres, inulin and oligofructose, in supporting gut health, blood glucose management and bone health. Our presence at such an event is not just about sharing knowledge. Furthermore, it’s about contributing to solutions for pressing nutritional challenges in the region. The conference facilitated valuable discussions and emphasised the importance of scientific research in developing targeted nutritional strategies for the Malaysian population.

BENEO-Institute: Advancing Health-Focused Nutrition through Education and Empowerment

The BENEO-Institute’s global prebiotics research initiatives underscore its dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and promoting collaboration that encourages positive changes in nutrition and health. Through its presence at key events across Latin America, the United States, Asia and Europe, BENEO has successfully conveyed valuable insights into the role of prebiotics in promoting overall well-being and health.
The next event is in Europe with a presentation to German dietitians at the VFED Congress (Verband für Ernährung und Diätetik) on the importance of prebiotics. It is particularly focusing on research surrounding the gut-brain axis. These events are more than just opportunities to share information. In fact, they are critical engagements that bring us closer to our customers and health care professionals alike. They allow us to share the latest scientific research while providing tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of each region. The BENEO-Institute remains dedicated to innovation and continues to contribute to healthier food and beverage options worldwide. The journey of advancing prebiotic science is far from over. Accordingly, we are prepared to carry on, educating and empowering healthcare professionals, customers, researchers and ultimately consumers with the knowledge to make informed, health-focused choices.
